The first rule of crypto is you need to be super careful with your online security. The best part of crypto is also its worst part - the irreversibility of transactions! If you get hacked and someone has access to your credentials and they take your crypto - there is no way to get it back.
We don’t need to go super crazy on security as most people aren’t targeted for hacks unless someone knows for sure they have a lot of money and aren’t careful. What hackers do is they send out large target attacks and just prey on the people that are easy.
Don't be the easy prey.
Make sure to take the time to read our in depth security guide at www.banewealth.com/security but in the meantime the following will get you most of the way there.
Download Google Authenticator or Authy. Make sure you make multiple backups of the codes and store them somewhere safe.
Create a separate email address for all your crypto exchanges. You can use Gmail or Protonmail (ProtonMail is more private).
Use a password you haven’t used anywhere else. You should store copies of this password on paper or use a password manager like 1Password. Don’t save passwords on your browser.
Set up 2FA on your account (you can use SMS if you’d like but Google Authenticator or Authy are better).
Buy a hardware wallet from either Ledger or Trezor. If you plan on storing more than $5000 it’s worth it.
You should only use your separate email for crypto related stuff. Don’t sign up for anything else with it. Also don’t open any suspicious emails or text messages ever - that’s how they get your information. Whenever you login into your exchange you should only use the official app or login to the website yourself - but never by Googling it or going through an email.
Make sure to read the security information at www.banewealth.com/security to beef up your security later on.
